Kate and I have just returned from a last minute flying trip to AGER in Spain. We discovered that we had a spare week and off we went to sign up with Winston with "Wegofly".Its only a 2 hr transfer from Barcelona to Ager which and is in the foothills of the Pyrenees.Great place to visit. Not expensive at all to inc. accomodation ,transfers and getting us to the right place each time with swift collection all through the week. The main mountain takeoff is only 20 min from the accomodation up a "proper" road, which was good for the old body not bouncing around and general holiday feeling. We flew every day lots of times from large take offs. You can land anywhere but there are also huge official landing fields. The potential for XC is there to do 30 km 70km and more over the back towards Andora. Its a big plug for this new company because they did everything we needed and more that they said on the tin.We will be going again maybe in September, certainly next year. The 3 bed accomodation was in this hill village called Ager ,clean and bright with great views. It was cheep to eat out there as well.E40 buys 4 adults all the food you could eat with drinks.Weekend there were locals in the air but the big take offs can cope.We had the whole valley to ourselves during the week.We had the tandam out and we both got a lot of solo flying done too.One day I had a bit of a shock,12 up for a while then 13 down with also a few tucks. That was the only fright and at the other times it was smooth and really nice. dramatic scenery although we did mostly flying there will be loads of stuff to do if it ever rained.Dramitic cliffs and lakes nearby for sightseeing.Wegofly did us proud and we can highly recomend them.

Hello fellow free flyers…and yes that is three Fs in a row. This is the end of my two weeks flying with Winston and Amanda the people behind we go fly (www.wegofly.co.uk) Firstly the main news, I have flown everyday, for anyone who flies in Northern climates you will now not need to read anymore. What is it looking like out of your Window right now? I came knowing that it was early season, weather wise, expecting a few days standing down and sightseeing but as I have said I have flown everyday, two or three flights per day. Some days have been Light, others more thermic. We have only had cloud cover on one day. For people more ambitious than me there were small XC flights available on many days, but for those who just like a boat around the valley there was plenty of boating to be done.
A bit about Ager, The town is perfect for slowing you down, chilling out and ensuring that you do not think about work at all for the entire time you are out here. The valley is perfect for landing. If you miss any one of the massive official landing fields, and shame on anyone who does, then there are green fields covering the valley floor. The mountain is designed for flying, two long ridges, some more exciting bits and other bits to fly to sanctuary if needed.I have brought two flying groups out here, slightly worried that they would not enjoy themselves and blame me if it was poor, but for once they were having such a good time that they could not buy the drinks fast enough to thank me for dragging them out here. With all the credit Crunch news people were reluctant to make a decision to come to fly. But after flying here they just stopped caring about the bad news full stop and concentrated on the freedom that flying brings.

Winston & Amanda, Thank you so much for the excellent week I spent in Ager, it is really appreciated. I have put my first three flights in Xcontest, couldn’t let Mark have it all to himself! I will for sure be returning sometime in the future.
Regards Kev.

Hey Winston. Just wanted to say a big thank you for all your invaluable help and advice last week (even though Saskia and I were not part of your group) It made our weeks flying far more enjoyable. Absolutely loved the site and the whole experience of Ager and will definately be back. Hope the rest of the season is a great success for you. Thanks again and safe flights for one and all, Cheers Barry

Thanks for a really enjoyable week of flying. The Ager site is fabulous - easy takeoffs, spacious grassy landing fields and a big open space of air in which to play !. What made it particularly interesting/different was that the mountain had a plateau with two levels of long ridge to soar, before heading out cross country over the open valley. The accomodation was great, with all the facilities you could need, plus a great view of the mountain whilst having a coffee & croissant on the balcony.Everyone had a great time in the evenings and the restaurants were extremely good value. Your flexibility in arranging and attending evening meals was appreciated, as was your expert flying advice.Overall, I think the service you offer is excellent value for money and flexible to meet anyone's needs, whether an experienced pilot or new from school. I would certainly love to go back next year to explore the area further and maybe even "go over the back" !

Thanks for all the organisation and driving last week, hope you got back to Ager without incident. I had a great time and expanded just about every component of my flying (not hard given my low airtime, but a tremendous experience!). It is blowing a gale and peeing down here, more flying seems an awfully long way off. Please could you also thank Gustavo for his sense of humour and advice when you bump in to him...
I hope you are reunited with Amanda soon and your plans for the winter go well.

Kenny Sept 2008:
Hi Winston, many thanks for a most enjoyable week in Ager and for all the hard work you and Amanda put in. Dont think there are too many guiding companies that put in this sort of effort. It was much appreciated by all the Scots team. Back in Saudi now but did get flying in Scotland Mon and missed a good day in Glencoe on the Sun but was just too knackered. Mondays flying was good tho . Over 2hrs in real floaty conditions. Almost like Ager restitution!!! I will send photos soon Think there was a few you were interested in and one of you flying Davids Sport.
KInd Regards Kenny

Hi Winston! Paul and I got home safe and tired after sleeping all through the flight.
Thank you so much for a truly storming holiday. I have been flying high above the ridge at Ager ever since, and I don't think I will be coming down any time soon! You are the perfect host and Ager is the perfect place. Thanks for making it all possible. See you again soon!

I'd just like to thank you both for organising such a brilliant week of flying! Eveything from the appartment, the retrieves, the guiding, the flying, your patience with some of my launches is something for others to aspire to! Your choice of sites and take-offs was always spot-on, the advice and encouragement was really appreciated and made a huge influence to my flying.
I can't think of anything that could be improved and can only see you as the envy of other fly/guide operations across Europe. I've already got a comittment from another three pilots to come next year and it looks like Hamish and Steve will be back as well. I'll get my pictures and the videos uploaded shortly!
Again thanks for a great time, take care and I'll see next year (if not sooner!)

Hamish; Jamiefly and myself have just got back from Ager in Spain, we were out there for the week with wegofly. The trip was excellent, the weather was glorious and we flew 7 days out 8. Generally starting with a morning flight with small thermals and some low saves; then a good afternoon flights with Hamish doing some good XC flights (30k; 50k) and me and Jamie pottering around the valley and doing the 12k ridge run and generally thermalling to cloudbase losing it going back up! Cloudbase was generally around 500m - 1000m above the upper take off and widely achievable with some good consistent house thermals. Then as if that wasn't enough we'd be back out around 7pm to catch the last of the thermals and scratch until restitution kicked in, then it was bloody hard getting down for our evening meal! One of the days Ager was getting over developed by 11am, Winston had already arranged for us to meet up with Nicky Moss, so we all went out to Organya, where we flew until we'd had enough, whilst being surrounded by top acro pilots doing Helicopters; SATs etc (even flying under the powerlines on the ridge). We all agreed that Ager is a great place for all skills of pilot and we would thoroughly recommend wegofly.
I'll definitely go back.
Enjoy
Steve

A great paragliding weekend in Àger, Catalonia, courtesy of Winston of Wegofly - http://wegofly.webeden.co.uk/ Excellent and friendly service. He picked me up in Barcelona and drove me the two hours to Àger and back, even though it was just me alone. Àger turned out to be great. Big, safe takeoffs and landings, huge altitude difference, and good strong thermals. Perfect for my tiny wing.
